Art Club is open to all St. Francis Xavier middle school students (grades 6-8). Under the direction of Mrs. Gessler, Art Club meets every Thursday from 3:00-4:30.
Band
Jennifer Heisinger directs the band program at St. Francis.
Any student in grades 4 through 8 can participate in the band program. Instruments students can choose to play are: any woodwind instrument (i.e. clarinet, flute, saxophone); any brass instrument (i.e. trumpet, trombone) or percussion. Instruments can be rented from Merrill House of Music or another music store in the area. There is one trombone at St. Francis that can be used by any band student, free of charge; see Mrs. Heisinger for more information. It is the responsibility of the student to supply his/her own instrument, purchase his/her own book and supply any other items needed for his/her instrument (ex. reeds, swabs, valve oil, etc.). The lesson book series we use is Accent on Achievement.
There is a fee for band; for the 2022-2023 school year, the cost of band at St. Francis is $55 per student, per school quarter. Total cost for the school year is $220. Band lessons are 30 minutes long once a week during the school day. Students will have either an individual or small group lesson. Besides weekly lessons, band students also perform in two combined concerts with other parochial school students during the school year, one in December and one in the spring. Students will also perform one concert for the students at their own school in the spring. Besides concerts, students also have opportunities to play in Mass or at other school functions that become available.
If you would like more information on the band program, please contact Mrs. Jennifer Heisinger by e-mail: [email protected] or phone: 715-536-4180. You can also contact her at St. Francis, 715-536-6083.
Student Council
Student Council is a student-based civic organization designed to help promote school spirit and leadership among students. Students in grades 5-8 are allowed to run for positions that include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Classroom Representative. Student Council members must be very responsible people who are willing to work hard. The St. Francis Student Council sets up functions like dances, movie nights, candy cane sales, and other wonderful all-school events.
Homework Club
Stop the battle between students and parents when it comes to completing homework at home! St. Francis students have the opportunity to complete their homework after school under the supervision of Mrs. Schmidt. They are able to attend Homework Club Monday through Wednesday and Friday throughout the entire school year.
