St. Francis Xavier Parish will be hosting Totus Tuus July 9 - 14, 2017. All students from Kindergarten -12th grades may attend.

2017 Schedule:
1st – 5th grades meet Monday – Friday from 9 am – 2:30 pm
6th - 12th grades will meet Sunday – Thursday evenings from 7:30 – 9:30

Totus Tuus, a Latin phrase meaning "totally yours," was the motto of Pope John Paul II.
Taken from St. Louis de Montfort’s True Devotion to Mary, it signifies our desire to give
ourselves entirely to Jesus Christ through Mary.

Mission of Totus Tuus

To inspire in young people a true longing for holiness, a deep desire for daily conversion, and an openness to their vocation by constantly challenging them to give themselves entirely to Christ through Mary and by continually strengthening their prayer lives in imitation of Her.

The Totus Tuus Team

The Totus Tuus team consists of seminarians and college students who love Jesus Christ and His Church. They are gifted with an ability to share that love with children and youth energetically and enthusiastically.

The Focus of Totus Tuus

The focus of the week is the Eucharist (the source and summit of the Christian life), understanding Mary and developing a devotion to her, learning the truth of Christ as taught through His Church, helping the participants to see God’s calling for their lives, and having FUN!

For 1st – 6th grades, Friday is “fun day.” There will be water games, water balloons, and a water fight. If the children behaved well during the week, they have the privilege of turning one of the Totus Tuus team members into a “living sundae.” That means the kids cover him or her with sundae toppings!

Totus Tuus has five distinguishing “marks”:

  1. Proclamation of the Gospel...to arouse faith
  2. Explanation...examination of the reasons for our beliefs
  3. Christian Witness...an experience of Christian living
  4. Celebration of the Sacraments...especially Holy Eucharist and Confession
  5. Active witness of the Missionary Nature of the Catholic Church

This means that the Totus Tuus team teaches what Jesus taught and did, as contained in the Bible (proclamation of the Gospel). Through this teaching, the participants get to know Jesus and have faith in Him. This is strengthened by seeing how the team lives out the teaching of Christ (Christian witness). Those who see that the people teaching them about Christ are truly living out His teachings, they are more receptive to what those teaching them have to say.
